TiLeRIGHT: The complete step-by-step guide on how to tile a floor.

Before installing your floor, there are some necessary
and helpful things you can do to ensure a smooth, hassle-free installation.

First, before purchasing your supplies, you must calculate the square footage of your project. The easiest way to calculate this is by measuring both the length of your room and the width, and multiplying these two numbers together. This gives you a rough estimate of how large a space you will be tiling. Then, add 5% for straight installation and 15% for diagonal installation for waste.

Make sure you have all of your tools and other items you need to ensure proper tile installation at this time.

Now, that you’ve picked out your tile and have your tools and setting supplies, you’re ready to start your installation!

Step	Clean and prepare the floor surface.
	Remove loose paint or other debris with a scraper and clean water. Make sure there is no surface oil or grease, and the surface is completely dry.

Step	Lay out tile for measurement.
	This is a critical step. Lay out 3 full tiles in a row, using Tavy spacers in between each tile. Take measurement from point A to point B. This will be your measurement.

Go to your longest wall. At one end, measure out from the wall the measurement you got from step two and mark it. Do the same on the other end of the wall. Now snap a chalk line on the floor to draw a line between the two points.

Repeat this process on the longest adjacent wall.

Step	After snapping the second chalk line, place a 2’ square in the corner created by the two intersecting lines. If your lines form a square, continue on to the next step.

Step	Lay your Tile on the line and use Tavy spacer to keep true and square.

Now that your layout is complete, you can begin the actual tile installation.
